About Me
Education has always been very important in my family. My parents have been supportive of my desire to go to college for as long as I can remember. It was never really a question what I was going to study, since biology and healthcare have always piqued my interest. To me, a thinker is someone who is flexible in what they believe, capable of collaboration, and always willing to learn new things.
My interest in learning started when I was in elementary school, and I credit a lot of that to one of my teachers, Ms. Kleiman. Before I was in her class, I had liked learning on a surface level, but her teachings really showed me how to go further into topics and that you are able to think creatively. As I went through middle and high school, science classes were always my favorites. I loved knowing there were different ways to come to a conclusion, and classes like anatomy really taught me that I could learn material in a creative and interactive way. Having the skills of mental flexibility and understanding core scientific concepts helped me in most of my other classes. I really believe that the material learned in science classes can be applied to all aspects of life, including academics. My interests in biology and healthcare led me to join and eventually lead my school’s Red Cross Club, where I used not only the material I learned in class, but integral life skills like teamwork and leadership to host events like blood drives, informational panels, and food drives. All these experiences combined really catalyzed an interest in healthcare and medical careers, which led me to where I am today.
When talking with my classmate Abby, I realized that we both grew up surrounded by family members who had pursued higher education. Both of us also had a drive to pursue a higher education level. However, unlike Abby, I don’t have many family members who are in the healthcare field, so most of my knowledge about healthcare professions has come from the classes I’ve taken or the research I’ve done. In general I would say that I am a logical thinker who enjoys being creative when learning and solving problems.
Healthcare Volunteer Experience

Red Cross Club
I had no idea how such a small choice that I made when I was fourteen years old would end up impacting my life so significantly. When I was a freshman in high school, I decided to join my school’s Red Cross Club and fell in love with the morals and initiative of the Red Cross organization. Throughout the rest of high school, I worked my way up to Vice President, Co-President, and eventually President of the club. Throughout my time and work in the club, I realized how important the values of the Red Cross are. The Red Cross Organization is a purely voluntary relief movement that is intended to help others with no intention of any personal gain. During my leadership positions in the Red Cross Club, I was able to organize numerous blood drives, feminine hygiene drives, and hospital volunteering opportunities. While working and volunteering with the Red Cross organization, I was able to see how valuable healthcare workers are in any capacity. This especially helped to kickstart my drive and enthusiasm for working within the healthcare field and seeing how many people it takes to make these initiatives and values of an organization come to life.
